It's a girl!

We have a new member of our family and her name is Izzy (named after my favorite character on Grey's Anatomy). I adopted her Saturday from PAWS of Tulsa. I think she may be at least a maine coon mix, but since she was rescued there is no way to know for sure. She is a really interesting color, kind of a pale orange/beige. She's five months old, she's beautiful and she and Jack are warming up to eachother just fine.

Just a couple of things I hope doesn't become a habit: she hasn't been declawed, and I don't plan to have her declawed unless her claws become a major problem, but she likes to jump up to my thigh (while I'm standing) and crawl up my body with her claws. I keep them clipped so she doesn't scratch me, but she is doing a small amount of damage to my clothes. At this point, it's still cute. Also, she loooooooves to crawl on my laptop while I'm trying to use it and camp out. Again, right now it's all cute...has anyone ever had success training cats? My mom tells me it can't be done, cats do whatever they want to do...

Positive Pals are back!

My favorite short comic, "Positive Pals", were taken down from ThreeBrain.com a little over a year ago and I have randomly checked back every once and a while. Well, today I checked the site, and their back so you have to see this...hilarious.

(Take the time to watch all of them)

Law Students are LAZY

Usually between 9am and 1pm, it's next to impossible to get a parking spot anywhere near the law school. A lot of the law students live in the on-campus apartments (I would probably live there too if they'd let me have my dog with me). Anyways, this morning I was driving to class at about 9:50am and I knew I'd have to park pretty far away. The funny thing is that I saw a handful of students who live in the on-campus apartments driving to class and of course, having to park at least 2 blocks away. Now granted, there is still snow on the ground and it was pretty cold this morning, but most of these students live about 2 1/2 blocks away, and most of these students drive to class everyday. I find this especially funny, because I'd probably do the same thing.

It's almost 3am...

and I am in excrutiating pain. I wanted to see how long I could go ignoring this problem, but I think I'm going to have to make an appointment for the dentist and go on liquid diet. I'm talking about my TMD - most people call it TMJ, but that actually refers to the jaw joint itself, TMD refers to the joint disorder. Just a little biology lesson for you.

Anyways, my teeth, and I mean every last tooth in my mouth, have been aching all day on and off. And not only do my teeth ache, but my temples are pounding and I can't chew my food (this will probably help me with my "get in aa bikini by spring break" diet). I wanted to go to sleep early tonight, but I'm probably going to be laying in bed until a) my tylenol pm kicks in and knocks me out, or b) my aleve kicks in and makes me comfortable enough to fall asleep.

2 Weeks Notice

I can't really go into details about why I'm making this decision because of attorney-client privilege, but I had a run in with my morals today and decided that I am going to quit my job. I've always known that I wanted to be a prosecutor and I got this job working for the public defender, because I thought it would be good experience to work for the other side first. It has been good experience, but I don't think I'm cut out for working in a field that honestly disturbs me.

I don't know when I'm going to put in my notice, but I do know that this is not going to be a long term commitment for me. I had originally planned to work for the PD's office for about 6-8 months, but I think I'm going to start looking for something a little better suited for me. I know I got myself into this and I know that some people may say that if I want to be a lawyer, I need to be able to work in all fields of the law. However, the way I see it, this would be like asking a pro-life medical student aspiring to be an ob-gyn to assist in performing an abortion just because it is within the field of obstetrics. And I think most people would agree that a medical student who refuses to perform an abortion still has the potential to become a very talented doctor.

As long as I am still working for the PD's office, I plan to continue acting the part, because that's what a good student does. I'm sure I'll go into more detail about my experience in the future, but right now it probably wouldn't be appropriate, considering I haven't even taken professional responsibility yet.

Feeling a little woozy...

Maybe it's the weather and the fact that snow is still on the ground, but I've been hybernating for the past few days. I don't think I'm sick, but I've been sleeping a lot and getting dizzy whenever I make any significant movements, i.e. getting out of bed, turning my head quickly. Anyways, I spent most of Sunday in bed, and most of Monday (didn't go to class). Today, I got up to go to court, had lunch with Rey, then crawled back in bed (didn't go to class again). I don't really care how I feel tomorrow, I will be going to school. I don't feel right about missing 3 days in a row.

I went to webmd and turns out I'm probably just dehydrated, so I'm chugging down the gatorade right now, at least the electrolytes might get my ass out of bed tomorrow.

Oh...and I didn't get my kitty, some "family" got her instead, with a bunch of annoying kids. But on the upside, I found a much more affectionate kitty who I applied for and I find out in the morning if she's mine!

Hooray, no spam here!

A fellow longhorn brought this to my attention and I thought I'd pass it on. I saw it this in my gMail, but didn't pick up on the connection. If you click on your spam folder, you will see links for spam recipes...google cracks me up...here is a screen shot:

I'm adopting!

I recently decided that I was going to get a cat to keep Jack company during the day while I'm at school/work (he loves cats). So I found the sweetest cat at the Humane Society. She loves to snuggle and loves to play. I put in the adoption papers for her and should find out Monday if I get her. If I do, I plan to name her Izzy (after my favorite character on Grey's Anatomy). Here's a picture of her.

I went with Susan to look at some dogs for her and we found the absolute cutest. She turned in all her paperwork and hopefully he'll be all her's this Wednesday. He's a chihuahua/beagle mix and he loves to kiss just like Jack!

By the way, I haven't gotten to post anything about my little Jack, so for those of you who don't know him, here's a cute picture of him. He's a 2 year old chihuahua and he is absolutely the love of my life.

Let it snow!

After looking at animals all day on Friday, Rey and Susan came back to my apartment and we watched an exceedingly vulgar documentary called "The Aristocrats". After getting about halfway through that, we turned it off and started getting ready to go downtown, and that's about the time it started snowing. Snow makes me very excited, because I rarely get to see it in Texas, so naturally we took a bunch of pictures.

We headed down to 818 for about 5 minutes and then over to Kilkenny's where about half the law school was.

Saturday, I went bowling, which was an absolute blast. I haven't bowled since highschool and that showed in my scores. I went with 7 other people, and in all three games, I had the lowest score. Oh, and a tip, if you ever go to Sheridan Lanes, don't waste your time ordering a margarita, it was disgusting! Here's an action shot of Torrone:

Cabin Fever

When I got home last night at about 3am, I stupidly parked my car on the upper level of the parking garage, so due to the winter mix of ice and snow, the upper level of our parking garage is more or less an ice rink. I usually enjoy an excuse to stay bundled up in bed all day, but I need to go grocery shopping and send some important faxes at work, so needless to say, I'm not too happy about being stuck inside all day. I'm just hoping that the winter weather advisory continues at least until the morning so that hopefully class will be cancelled. I guess this will give me the opportunity to update my blog re: the happenings of this weekend (but not until Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy are over with).

Stalker Status Achieved

You know who you are...

Just an exerpt from OSA § 21-1173:

Unconsented contact includes but is not limited to any of the following:
f. sending mail or electronic communications to that individual.

Timmy D!

There's nothing I love more than Tim Duncan and Steve Nash on the court together. This Sunday at 7pm is the 2006 NBA All Stars Game. I assure you all that I will be taping Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy this week. Who wants to join me at Hardwood to watch it?

Love is...

Courtesy of CollegeHumor.com...
  • Love is why Xanex and red wine will be together forever - in my stomach. At least until they pump it.
  • Love is the second single from Ashley Simpson's second album, I Am Me.
  • Love is that itching, burning sensation when you pee. Some might call it "The clap" but I don't speak spanish, so I call it love.
  • Love is not kissing your clients on the lips.
  • Love is like underwear: not completely necessary for a good time.
  • Love is sensational, epic, whimsical, and endless. No, wait, that's The Chronicles of Narnia.
  • Love is not having to pay for sex, but instead having to pay three times more for dinner, a movie, and flowers when really, it'd just be easier to pay for sex.
  • Love is understanding that sometimes beating a level in Splinter Cell is more important than cuddling.
  • Love is re-marrying your estranged husband after he wrote a song about slitting your throat and then named it after you (in case you didn't get this one, here's a hint: m&m).
  • Love is the only thing in the world that doesn't get better with mayonnaise.
  • Love is not something that can be written about with ordinary words, unless those words rhyme. Love is like a glove.
  • Love is a perfectly good reason to get drunk on a Tuesday afternoon.
  • Love is not farting until your girlfriend gets out of bed.
  • Love is finding out that all the hookers he's been with kind of look like you.
  • Love is a girl letting you touch one of her boobs. True love is a girl letting you touch both.
  • Love is never having to say you're sorry, even if you empty the joint checking account because you "had a hunch" about the Haitian stock market.
  • Love is never having to say "Your dad exposed himself to me that weekend in Chautauqua and I've been too afraid to tell you."
  • Love is leaving class early to pick up your girlfriend from middle school.
  • Love is a sacred bond between a man and a woman...until she sobers up.
  • Love is letting her know she's gained some weight by giving her cute, subtle, little signs, such as calling her "Boulder" or "Tubby McSupersize", and my favorite...
  • Love is the Jager talking.

St. Valentine agrees...

the shocker is for lovers...

You've been kicked in the nuts...

I was watching a fairly new episode of Family Guy the other day and there was a reference to a show called "You've Been Kicked In The Nuts". Originally, I thought that this was just something that Seth McFarland made up, but it is a tv show...but my question is, is this a real tv show or was it staged? I'm guessing it was staged, but regardless, it's pretty funny.

A disclaimer: I've never been kicked in the nuts, since I don't have any, but if you have, you may find some of this hard to watch...but make sure you watch all of it; the one with the two kids had me laughing out loud.

Congrats Leslie!

My good friend, Leslie Dubois, traveled to Seattle, Washington this weekend to represent TU Law in the National Native American Law Students Association Appellate Competiton . Leslie and her partner Candice Freeman made it to the semi-finals and placed 3rd overall. First off, this is a huge accomplishment...I've participated in two law school competitions and didn't get close to making it to the semi-finals. Second, placing in these competitions does great things for the reputation of our law school. Anyways, if you see Leslie or Candace, tell them congratulations!

Chilifest and Punch Drunk Love

Last night was the annual Tulsa Law Chilifest and our fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, Punch Drunk Love; both were a huge success!

The festivities began around 6pm in the ACAC. I was on the Phi Alpha Delta Chilifest team, we cooked a non-traditional "White Chili", and our theme was "Red Hot Chili Cookers". Our decorators did a fabulous job. We all dressed up as musicians/groupies. Rey dressed up as Prince and I dressed up as Avril Lavigne...

After Chilifest, we headed over to Whitney's for our anti-Valentine's Day fundraiser, where we raised $260 and took lots of yummy jello shots. Stayed there until about 1:00, then headed over to watch the soccer game. Ended up at an after party and didn't get home until 7am. Last night was interesting to say the least...here are some things I did last night:
+ Put extentions in my hair, which looked completely natural (I love them!)
+ Had some fantastic "Redemption Chili" from the Black Law Student Association (they won first place)
+ Broke up with Rey
+ Reconciled with Rey
+ Had a 10 minute drunken conversation with my secured transactions professor about how senseless the war in Iraq is...lol
+ Watched several drunk law students play soccer (and win) at 1:30 in the morning
+ Fell asleep and woke up with lots of sharpie art on my face and arm
+ Wrote a $3 check for my very short cab ride home

Airbag Deploys, Baby Spears Goes Pop

Mother of the year, Britney Spears is currently under investigation for child endangerment after paparazzi got pictures of her driving with her 5 month old baby in her lap. What the paparazzi failed to get a shot of was the cigarette Britney had in her left hand. Is this a surprise to anyone?

For those of you who don't know me very well, I love celebrity gossip and I love Britney Spears because she has kept the gossip magazines quite interesting for the past 5 years. I love Britney's music and I'm not all too ashamed to admit it. In college, my suitemate and I got one of those videos that teaches you how to do all the Britney dances, so yes, I still know how to do the "Oops, I did it again" dance.

I have never been supportive of the whole "Kevin" phase that Britney has been going through and I really wish it would end. As jealous as I am of Britney's pre-Federline body, I kind of miss it...

A Brokeback Parody...

Hazy Hazy Weekend

I took Thursday off, which I think was really good for me, and my liver. I did, however, meet with my Relay for Life team and we have 2 big parties planned, as fundraisers, one this Friday after Chilifest (kind of a Valentine's Day theme) and the other one will be a Mardi Gras party the weekend before Fat Tuesday. The second one should be a lot of fun...it will be at Harry's house which is two stories. So not only will we have the 2 story beer bong out, but we will be tossing beads out to drunk girls who are willing to flash us.

Anyways, here are some fun pictures from this weekend.

I had to post this because it might just be the only picture of Aaron Hurvitz ever taken where he does not have a huge grin on his face.

I don't know if Jeff is imitating Aaron's normal grin, or if he's just really happy.

It looks like I might be imitating my new fish, Angelina.

I just think this is a funny picture of Jimmy in his Steelers gear (Super Bowl Party at the Rubins')

Wednesday Nights: The Buc

Every Wednesday night, Reynaldo and I go to the Buc for free beer, yet always end up taking unnecessary shots of jager. Last night, we went around 9:45 and started taking advantage of the free beer until 11. After 11, we moved on to jager blasters and longnecks. A lot happened last night, including Rey and I rolling around on the pool table, pictured below:
